ABOUT THIS APPLICATION ======================================== আমাদের দেবিদ্বার is an independent, non-commercial, community-driven mobile application developed to assist the residents of Debidwar Upazila, Cumilla, Bangladesh. The application provides access to local service directories, union information, emergency contacts, prayer times, delivery services, and other community resources, all in one place. This application is developed and maintained by an individual developer as a voluntary public service initiative. It is not a commercial product and does not generate any profit from user data. IMPORTANT: This application does NOT provide any government services, does NOT link to any government websites, and does NOT collect or use any information from government portals or official databases. All information within this app is sourced entirely from local community volunteers and publicly available listings. ======================================== 2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT ======================================== 2.1 Information Provided Voluntarily by Users The application may collect the following information directly from the user during initial setup or when using certain features: User Name: The user's name is collected voluntarily during the initial setup screen (WelcomeActivity). This is stored locally on the user's device to personalize the experience, such as displaying a greeting on the home screen. Union Name: The user selects their union from a list of 16 unions/municipality (union) areas in Debidwar Upazila. This is stored locally on the device to display relevant local services and providers based on the user's area. Ward Number: Entered only when the user manually uses the delivery service feature to identify the delivery area. Important Storage Notice: All of the above information is stored exclusively on the user's own device using Android SharedPreferences. This information is never transmitted to any developer-owned server, cloud database, or third-party database. The developer has no access to this information at any time. ---------------------------------------- 2.2 Location Information ---------------------------------------- The application requests access to device location data only when the user explicitly chooses to use the Delivery Service feature (DeliveryActivity). Location access is triggered only when the user taps the Send Location button within the Delivery Service screen. Location permission is requested at runtime. The user must actively grant permission before any location data is accessed. The obtained location coordinates are converted into a Google Maps link and shared through WhatsApp, only to facilitate the user's delivery request. The developer does not store, record, or maintain any database of user location information. Background location tracking is never performed. The application does not access location when running in the background. Users may deny or revoke location permission at any time through device settings. To revoke location permission: Settings > Apps > আমাদের দেবিদ্বার > Permissions > Location > Deny ---------------------------------------- 2.3 Favorites Data ---------------------------------------- When the user saves a service provider using the Favorites button, the provider's name, phone number, WhatsApp number, address, and category are saved locally on the device using Android SharedPreferences. This data never leaves the user's device and is not accessible by the developer. ---------------------------------------- 2.4 Provider Submission Data ---------------------------------------- The application includes an "Add Provider" feature, available under union service lists and bazar category lists, that allows users to voluntarily submit information about a new service provider for the community directory. When a user submits this form, the following information is collected: the provider's name, phone number, WhatsApp number (optional), address, and the relevant union, ward, and service or bazar category. This submitted information is sent directly to a private GitHub Issue within the developer's repository for manual review. The developer personally reviews each submission before deciding whether to add it to the public community directory or reject it. This feature does not create a user account and does not collect any identifying information about the person submitting the form (such as their own name or device details) — only the information entered about the suggested provider is transmitted. The application also includes a similar contact-listing feature, available under the "Doctor" section, that works identically: users may voluntarily submit a doctor's name, phone number, WhatsApp number (optional), a short description, and chamber/visiting hours contact information, along with an optional photo. Like the other provider listings described above, this is a simple name-and-contact directory entry, not a medical record. This information is handled the same way as other provider submissions — sent to a private GitHub Issue for manual review before being added to the public directory. The application also includes a "কনটেন্ট ক্রিয়েটর" (Content Creator) feature, allowing users to voluntarily submit their own name, a short description about themselves, their union, an optional Facebook page/ID name, an optional YouTube channel name, an optional description of any service they offer, phone number, and optional WhatsApp number, along with an optional photo. This is handled the same way as other submissions described above. The application also includes a "প্রবাসী" (Expatriate) feature, allowing users to voluntarily submit their own name, the country they currently live in, their home union in Debidwar, the year they went abroad, an optional note about their future plans, phone number, and optional WhatsApp number, along with an optional photo. This is handled the same way as other submissions described above. ---------------------------------------- 2.5A Matrimonial ("পাত্র-পাত্রী") Submission Data ---------------------------------------- The application includes a "পাত্র-পাত্রী সন্ধান" (Matrimonial Search) feature, allowing users to voluntarily submit a marriage biodata for themselves or someone they represent. This feature first asks whether the listing is for a "পাত্র" (groom) or "পাত্রী" (bride), then collects: name, age, religion, marital status, height, educational qualification, occupation, union, phone number, and optional WhatsApp number, along with an optional photo. ⚠️ Please note: this feature collects the submitted person's religion, which is a sensitive category of personal information. This information is provided entirely voluntarily by the user submitting the listing, is used solely to display the biodata within the community matrimonial directory (a common and expected practice in this type of listing), and is never used for any other purpose such as advertising, profiling, or discrimination. Users should only submit this information for themselves or with the explicit consent of the person the biodata represents. As with other submissions described in this section, this information is first sent to a private GitHub Issue for manual review by the developer before being added to the public directory, and can be removed at any time upon request (see Section 11). ---------------------------------------- 2.5B Blood Donor ("রক্তদাতা") Submission Data ---------------------------------------- The application includes a "রক্তদাতা" (Blood Donor) feature, available under the "জরুরি" (Emergency) section, allowing users to voluntarily register themselves as a blood donor. This feature collects: name, blood group, union, optional village/area name, and phone number. Registered donors can be found by anyone browsing or searching the app by blood group, and their phone number is displayed so they can be contacted directly in case of need. ⚠️ Please note: because this feature is intended to help people find blood donors quickly during emergencies, the submitted phone number is shown openly within the app (unlike some other directory features where WhatsApp is optional and separate). Users should only register themselves, or register another person with that person's explicit consent, understanding that their name, blood group, and phone number will be visible to any user of the app. A donor (or the developer, on a donor's request) can mark an entry as temporarily unavailable, or have it removed entirely at any time (see Section 11). As with other submissions described in this section, this information is first sent to a private GitHub Issue for manual review by the developer before being added to the public directory. ---------------------------------------- 2.5 Rent and Sale Listing Submission Data ---------------------------------------- The application includes an "Add Listing" feature, available under the "Rent and Sale" (বাসা ও দোকান ভাড়া) section, that allows users to voluntarily submit a listing for a house, office, shop rental, or land sale. When a user submits this form, the following information is collected: a title, rent or price, area, union (optional), address, additional details (optional), phone number, and WhatsApp number (optional). This submitted information is sent directly to a private GitHub Issue within the developer's repository for manual review, in the same manner described in Section 2.4. The developer personally reviews each submission before deciding whether to add it to the public listings or reject it. ---------------------------------------- 2.6 Reserve Vehicle Driver Submission Data The application includes a "রিজার্ভ গাড়ি" (Reserve Vehicle) feature, available under the "এলাকাভিত্তিক সার্ভিস" section on the home screen, that allows users who work as vehicle drivers (CNG, auto-rickshaw, car, pickup, bike, or tractor) to voluntarily list themselves so nearby residents can book their service. When a driver submits this form, the following information is collected: their name, years of driving experience, ward number (1-9), phone number, WhatsApp number (optional), and address. Before submission, the driver must acknowledge a short terms-of-conduct notice describing expected behavior toward customers. This submitted information is sent directly to a private GitHub Issue within the developer's repository for manual review, in the same manner described in Section 2.4. The developer personally reviews each submission before deciding whether to add it to the public directory or reject it. Separately, when a customer chooses to contact a listed driver (via call or WhatsApp), the application displays a brief in-app safety notice reminding the customer that they may report any misconduct through the application's "অভিযোগ" (Complaint) section. This notice does not collect or transmit any information — it is shown locally on the device. ---------------------------------------- 2.7 Information We Do NOT Collect ---------------------------------------- আমাদের দেবিদ্বার does not collect, store, access, or transmit any of the following: - Phone numbers stored in the device contacts - Financial, banking, or credit card information - Background location data - Camera or microphone recordings - Browsing history or activity from other applications - Email addresses of users - Biometric data of any kind - Any personal data from children under the age of 13 - Any information from government websites or portals - Any information from official government databases ======================================== 3. HOW WE USE INFORMATION ======================================== Information collected within the application is used solely for the following purposes: - Displaying a personalized greeting with the user's name on the home screen - Showing union-specific local services, ward information, and provider directories - Processing delivery service requests by generating a location link - Saving and retrieving the user's favorite service providers for quick access - Improving the overall user experience and application functionality We do not use any collected information for advertising, marketing, profiling, or any commercial purpose whatsoever. ======================================== 4. DATA STORAGE AND PROCESSING ======================================== SharedPreferences: Stores user name, union selection, notification read status, and favorite providers locally on the device only. Offline JSON Asset Files: Service directories and community information are bundled within the application package and stored locally on the device. No internet connection is required to access this data. Cache Storage: Temporary update files downloaded from GitHub are stored locally on the device for performance improvement. These files contain only publicly available community service data, not any personal user information. WhatsApp: Delivery requests and feedback messages are shared directly through WhatsApp only when initiated by the user. The developer does not intercept, record, or store these messages. No Remote Database for Personal Preferences: The developer does not operate any remote server or database that stores the user's own personal preferences (name, union selection, ward number, or favorites) — this information remains on the user's device at all times, as described in Section 2.1 and 2.3. Community Directory Database (Google Cloud Firestore): The public community service directory (names, phone numbers, WhatsApp numbers, addresses, and optional photos of service providers, businesses, and drivers who have voluntarily agreed to be listed — see Section 8) is stored in Google Cloud Firestore, a cloud database service operated by Google. This directory data is the same publicly-viewable information previously distributed as public files; only the storage method has changed, to allow the directory to be updated more efficiently and reliably. This database does NOT contain any personal information about app users themselves (such as their name, union selection, or device data) — it only contains information about the service providers who have voluntarily agreed to be listed, as described in Section 8. Access to add, edit, or remove entries in this database is restricted to the developer through a separate, password-protected admin application (see Section 5.2). Submission Review Process: The voluntarily submitted provider information described in Sections 2.4, 2.5, and 2.6 ("Add Provider", "Add Listing", and reserve vehicle driver registration) is first sent to a private GitHub Issue for manual review by the developer, as explained in those sections and in Section 5. Once reviewed and approved, the submitted directory information (not the identity of the person who submitted it) is added to the Google Cloud Firestore database described above so it can be displayed within the application. ======================================== 5. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES AND LIBRARIES ======================================== The application integrates the following third-party services and libraries, which may have their own privacy policies: Google Play Services (Location API): Used to obtain GPS coordinates only when the user requests delivery service. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy. Google Play Core (In-App Update Library): Used to check whether a newer version of the application is available on the Play Store and, if so, to download it in the background so the user can update without leaving the app. This process does not collect, access, or transmit any personal user data — it only checks version-availability information through the Play Store, which the device already communicates with as part of normal Play Store operation. Updates are never installed without the user's action; the user is simply shown an in-app prompt to restart and apply an already-downloaded update whenever they choose. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy. GitHub Raw Content Service: Used to retrieve publicly available community data updates, including union directories, notices, sliders, and service lists. No personal user data is transmitted to GitHub. GitHub Issues API: Used to receive new service provider submissions (Section 2.4), rent/sale listing submissions (Section 2.5), and reserve vehicle driver submissions (Section 2.6) from users. Submitted information is sent to a private GitHub Issue for manual review before being added to the public directory or listings. Governed by GitHub's Privacy Policy. Google Cloud Firestore (Firebase): Used to store and serve the public community service directory described in Section 8 and Section 4 (Community Directory Database). This is a cloud database service provided by Google. Only publicly-viewable provider directory information is stored here (name, phone, WhatsApp, address, category, and optional photo of voluntarily-listed providers) — no personal information about app users themselves is stored in this database. The application connects to this database only to read and display the directory; regular app users cannot write, edit, or delete any data in this database. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy) and Firebase's specific terms (https://firebase.google.com/terms). WhatsApp Messaging Service: Used only when the user voluntarily chooses to send a delivery request or feedback message. Governed by WhatsApp's Privacy Policy. AndroidX Libraries: Core Android functionality and UI components including AppCompat, RecyclerView, CardView, DrawerLayout, Material Components, NestedScrollView, and ViewPager. These libraries do not collect personal data. OkHttp3: Used for network requests to retrieve community data updates from GitHub. No personal user data is transmitted through this library. Cloudinary: Used to host optional profile photos that service providers may choose to add to their directory listing. Photos are uploaded by the developer through the admin application only with the provider's consent, are resized and compressed before upload, and are never collected from or uploaded by app users themselves. Governed by Cloudinary's Privacy Policy. Glide (Image Loading Library): Used to load and cache the optional provider photos described above within the application interface. This library only renders images from the addresses described above; it does not collect or transmit any user data. uCrop (Image Cropping Library): Used by the developer, within the admin application only, to crop and adjust optional provider photos before they are uploaded. This library operates entirely on the developer's own device as part of the admin review process described in Section 8; it does not run within the public-facing application and does not collect or transmit any data on its own. Lottie Animation Library (Airbnb): Used to render lightweight, bundled vector animations (such as the call and WhatsApp icons) within the application interface for visual enhancement. This library only plays animation files that are bundled inside the application package; it does not access, collect, store, or transmit any user data, and does not connect to the internet. External Website Links: The home screen includes optional buttons ("অনলাইন কেনাকাটা" and "সেলাই ঘর") that open the developer's other independent websites in the device's browser. These are separate websites with their own privacy practices; this application does not transmit any user data to them automatically, and no data is exchanged unless the user actively interacts with those websites themselves. We encourage users to review the privacy policies of these third-party services for full details on how they handle data. ======================================== 5.1 CHAT ASSISTANT FEATURE (উপজেলা সহায়িকা) ======================================== The application includes a built-in Upazila Assistant feature that serves as a local community information guide. Technology: This feature is a rule-based keyword matching system powered entirely by locally cached JSON files retrieved from GitHub. It does NOT utilize any form of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Natural Language Processing (NLP), or Large Language Models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT, Gemini, or similar technologies. The assistant does not learn, train, or improve from user conversations in any way. Data Processing: When a user submits a question or message, the application performs a simple keyword comparison against a pre-defined, static list of questions and answers stored in a JSON file. This process occurs entirely within the application on the user's device. No external AI API calls are made. Privacy: - All chat messages and questions entered by the user remain strictly on the user's device. - We do not transmit, store, log, or record any chat history, questions, or personal queries on any remote server, cloud platform, or third-party database. - Chat history is not retained after the user closes the application session. - No user profiling or behavioral analysis is performed based on chat interactions. No Personalization: The assistant does not personalize responses based on the user's private behavioral patterns, location history, or personal data. All responses are based solely on static, publicly available community information about Debidwar Upazila that has been pre-defined by the application developer. Doctor Contact Directory Feature: The application includes a multi-step doctor contact directory flow within the assistant. Users may browse doctor listings by category and area. This feature: - Only displays information pre-loaded from a publicly available JSON file on GitHub. - Does not access any external databases or registries. - Does not store or transmit the user's searches. - All displayed doctor contact information is sourced from community volunteers and public listings, and may not reflect current availability. Users are advised to verify information directly with the respective doctor or clinic. ======================================== 5.2 ADMIN APPLICATION (Separate, Developer-Only Tool) ======================================== To manage and review the community directory described in Section 8, the developer uses a separate, private admin application (package name: com.amar.debidwaradmin) that is NOT publicly available on the Play Store and is used exclusively by the developer. Firebase Authentication: The admin application requires the developer to sign in with a password-protected email account, using Firebase Authentication (a service provided by Google), before any directory data can be added, edited, or removed. This login system applies only to the developer's own admin device and account — regular users of the public আমাদের দেবিদ্বার application never encounter, use, or are affected by this login system in any way, and no public-app user data is processed by Firebase Authentication. Purpose: This login requirement exists solely to protect the community directory from unauthorized changes, ensuring that only the developer can add, correct, or remove provider listings. ======================================== 6. PERMISSIONS USED ======================================== The application may request the following Android permissions: ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION: To obtain accurate GPS coordinates for delivery service requests only. Never used for background tracking. ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION: To obtain approximate location when precise GPS is unavailable. Used only during delivery service requests. INTERNET: To download publicly available community directory updates (from Google Cloud Firestore, as described in Section 4 and 5), and to check for and download application updates (Section 5). ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: To check network connectivity status before attempting to load online content. All location permissions are requested at runtime and require explicit user approval before use. No permissions are used beyond their stated purposes described above. ======================================== 7. It is NOT affiliated with, endorsed by, authorized by, sponsored by, or operated by: - The Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh - Any government ministry, department, or agency - Debidwar Upazila Administration or Upazila Nirbahi Office - Any Union Parishad or local government body - Any public authority or official institution of any kind The use of union names and upazila information within this application is solely for geographic area identification to help users find local community services. This does not imply any official government association or endorsement. This application does NOT: - Link to or reference any government websites or portals - Collect or use data from any government databases - Provide or facilitate any official government services - Process official government applications or requests - Provide official government approvals, certifications, or legal documents All information displayed within this application is sourced exclusively from: - Local community volunteers - Publicly available local business listings - Individuals who have voluntarily agreed to share their information For official government services, users should contact their respective government offices directly. ======================================== 8. COMMUNITY DIRECTORY DATA ======================================== The service provider directories displayed within the application, including names, phone numbers, and addresses of local individuals and businesses, are sourced from: - Community volunteers who voluntarily contributed information - Publicly available local business listings - Individuals who have voluntarily agreed to have their information included Some provider directory listings may optionally include a small profile photo. Providing a photo is entirely voluntary — the developer never requires or pressures any individual to submit a photo, and a listing remains fully functional and unaffected without one (shown instead with a generic category icon, with no impact on the listing in any way). When a provider chooses to share a photo, they send it voluntarily to the developer through a channel of their own choosing (such as WhatsApp), who then uploads it through the admin application; a photo is never collected automatically from any app user's device, gallery, or camera, and the public-facing application itself has no photo-upload feature of any kind. Uploaded photos are resized and compressed before hosting. If a provider wishes to have their photo removed or replaced at any time, they may simply contact the developer, and the photo will be promptly removed or updated. The same removal-request process described below applies equally to this photo feature. This also includes the "সাংবাদিক তালিকা" (Journalist List) feature, which displays the name, media channel, years of experience, address, phone number, and (optional) WhatsApp number of local journalists. This information is entered directly by the developer through GitHub (not submitted by app users through any in-app form), based on individuals who have agreed to be listed. The same removal-request process described below applies equally to this feature. The same applies to the "প্রতিষ্ঠান তালিকা" (Institution Directory) feature, which displays the name and address of local colleges, madrasas, schools, and hospitals/diagnostic centers, along with the name and phone number of each institution's head or owner (e.g., principal, headmaster, chairman). This information is likewise entered directly by the developer through GitHub, not submitted by app users, and is sourced from publicly available institutional records. The same removal-request process applies to this feature as well. This Institution Directory also includes a "মসজিদ" (Mosque) category, which displays each mosque's name and ward/area, along with the name and phone number of the mosque's Imam and the name and phone number of the mosque's committee (President/Secretary). This information is sourced from Debidwar Paurasabha Office community religious-institution records and is entered directly by the developer through GitHub, not submitted by app users. The same removal-request process applies to this feature as well. This also includes the "ডক্টর" (Doctor) feature, which displays a simple name-and-contact directory of local doctors — name, a short description, chamber/visiting hours contact information, phone number, and (optional) WhatsApp number — organized by area, purely to help users find contact information. This is not a medical record or health-tracking feature. This information may come either directly from the developer through GitHub, or from a user-submitted suggestion (see Section 2.4) that the developer has reviewed and approved. The same optional-photo handling and removal-request process described above apply equally to this feature. This also includes the "কনটেন্ট ক্রিয়েটর" (Content Creator), "পাত্র-পাত্রী সন্ধান" (Matrimonial Search — see Section 2.5A for details on the sensitive religion field collected here), and "প্রবাসী" (Expatriate) features. Each displays the respective submitted information (as described in Sections 2.4 and 2.5A) within its own section of the directory. As with all directory content, this information may come either directly from the developer or from a user-submitted suggestion the developer has reviewed and approved, and the same optional-photo handling and removal-request process apply equally to these features. This also includes the "রক্তদাতা" (Blood Donor) feature, available under the "জরুরি" (Emergency) section — see Section 2.5B for full details, including the important note that phone numbers in this feature are shown openly (not optional like elsewhere in the directory) so donors can be reached quickly in an emergency. DATA SECURITY ======================================== We take reasonable and appropriate measures to protect information. Personal preferences (name, union selection, ward number, and favorites) remain within the secure Android operating system environment on the user's own device at all times, as described in Section 2.1, 2.3, and 4, and are never transmitted to any remote server or database. The public community directory (Section 8) is stored in Google Cloud Firestore, as described in Section 4 and 5. This database is configured with access-control rules so that anyone can view the publicly-listed directory information (which is by design meant to be publicly visible within the app), but only the developer, after signing in through the password-protected admin application (Section 5.2), can add, edit, or remove entries. Please note that no method of electronic storage or data transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Users are encouraged to protect their devices with appropriate security measures such as screen locks and device encryption. ======================================== 10.
